Azerbaijan basketball championship, which started at the “Sarhadchi” Olympic Sports Complex on October 10, proceeded with three more matches. The competitions, held in the gym of Azerbaijan Technical University, were remembered with an interesting and intense struggle. The first game was between “Atom”-“Sarkarda” and ended with a score of 66:61 in favor of “Sarkarda”. Then the teams of “Khirdalan” and “Athletic” competed for the victory. “Khirdalan” players gave the fans and the ordinary viewers a pleasant moment showing a friendly game. “Athletic” triumphed with a score of 73:67. Fuad Niftaliyev was the most productive player in the team of “Khirdalan” with 22 points, Anatoli Chelovan with 32 points in the rival team.
In final, there were matches between “Sichrayish” and “80s” and concluded with the triumphant of the team “Sichrayish” (84:77).
For the first time in the 2019/2020 season, the Azerbaijan championship will be called as Azerbaijan Super League. Eight teams will participate in the championship. Teams of Ganja and Astara compete in the Azerbaijan championship for the first time. The participating teams are: “Ganja”, “Astara-Zirve”, “Athletic”, “Atom”, “Sarkarda”, “80s”, “Sichrayish” and U-20.
