Karate players earned three gold in the World championship!


On May 24-26, world shotokan karate championship was held in Bucharest, capital of Romania. Representatives of “Zirve” International Sport Clubs also participated in this prestigious competitions, where attended by about 1500 athletes. They have been remembered with successful performances. The members of our team grabbed 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal.

In the individual tournament, 12-13 years old Huseyn Huseynov (44 kg), while in 50kg bodyweight category Khudash Aghayev captured gold medals. They are also participants and prize-winners of the 7th Zirve International Children’s Games. Rashad Rahimli, who performed in 63kg at the age of 14-15, got the bronze. Samir Ibrahimov was gold medallist in the 75 kg bodyweight category at the open tournament of over 18.

Interestingly, Rustam Akberov, the young specialist, who is currently the head coach of the “Zirve” karate team, also took part in the competitions. He managed to board the second step of honorary chair only defeating in the final.

After that, our karate players tested their power at an international tournament in Odessa, Ukraine. Shamo Kamilov took the gold in +30kg bodyweight category, however in 55kg Aghayev Khudash won bronze in the 12-13 age group. At the same time, Aghayev Khudash and Huseyn Huseynov pinched third places in the team competitions.
