Our karateka swiped bronze medal at the international tournament


On September 28-30, Baku Sport Palace hosted the 9th “Baku Open” international karate tournament organized by the Azerbaijan National Karate Federation and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. President of the federation Yasar Bashirov took floor at the solemn opening ceremony of the traditional competition and spoke about the President Ilham Aliyev’s care and attention to the physical culture and sports, including karate, and on the achievements of our athletes at the international competitions.

In the competition was attended by about 850 athletes of different ages from 12 countries, which lasted 3 days. One day before the tournament, on September 27, world famous Azerbaijani karateka Rafael Aghayev has organized workshop for children and young athletes.

Several members of the “Zirve” International Sports Clubs were also on the tatami mat under the guidance of coach Rustam Akbarov. One of them – Samir Ibrahimov succeeded in 75 kg. Our karateka took the 3rd place and got bronze.
