On May 25, the next anti-doping seminar was held with the cooperative organizational support of Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation (AZE WF) and Azerbaijan National Anti-doping Agency (AMADA) with the instructions of International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) in the Weightlifting Academy, in Shuvelan. At the event, which took place in the course of Azerbaijan Youth Weightlifting Championship, the federation officials, athletes, qualified specialists representing various clubs and sports communities, referees and other persons participated as listeners.
First, the General Secretary of AZE WF-Rizvan Rasulov made a speech. He emphasized the importance of fight against doping and stressed the importance of the measures taken. Rasulov added that the additions to the IWF Anti-Doping Rules came into force on April 15, 2018 and gave detailed information on these additions. General Secretary spoke in detail about the assignment of whereabouts information, application of sanctions to national federations, integration of national federations into IWF anti-doping rules. Rasulov answered the questions about it.
Then, lecturers, the representatives of AMADA, took a floor. Education and Training Manager-Lala Hajiyeva and Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Therapeutic Use Exemptions-Dr. Farid Aliyev informed on the spirit of sport and athlete, the significance of rules and compliance with them, violation type and applicable sanctions, Substances Prohibited at All Times, Prohibited Methods, Dietary Supplements, and other topics like this.
Along with this, the participants were also informed about the Anti-doping Rule Violations (ADRVs), Doping Control Process, Whereabouts, Prohibited methods and Prohibited Substances identified on Prohibited List, Therapeutic Use Exceptions (TUE).
They were provided with extensive information on the consequences of the use of prohibited substances, penalties for their acceptance, renewal list and criterias for its compilation, rules for testing in and out of competition, athletes whereabouts information, ADAMS system, Therapeutic use exception (TUE) and other important points . During the seminar, participants’ questions were also answered. At the end, athletes took part in the anonymous doping surveys, educational booklets and brochures were distributed.
