26 years passed from the “Khojaly Genocide”. Over the night from 25 to 26 February 1992, Armenian armed forces with support of the infantry guards regiment No366 of the former Soviet Union committed genocides in the town of Khojaly. In one night, 613 persons were killed atrociously, including 106 women, 63 children and 70 elderly people. They scalped, cut people’s head and other organs off, extracted eyes of children, chopped stomachs of pregnant women.
On this day, AAAF Park team and management, coaching and athlete staff of “Zirve” International Sports Club visited the “Mother Cry” monument erected in memory of the victims of Khojaly Genocide. Our team laid a wreath at the monument on behalf of the Weightlifting Federation. Carnations in our collective members’ hands were a sign of respect to Martyrs and memory of victims of the tragedy.
Khojaly genocide is one of the most terrible tragedies of the 20th century. The Azerbaijani people will never forget this event and will always remember the victims of that night.
