XI Republican Weightlifting Competitions among 2003-04 year old boys and girls, were held in AWF Park Residential Complex , in Astara, on Februry 23-27. All sports schools, the members of communities and clubs performed in the Championship, regardless of subordination. More than 100 junior weightlifters joined the medal struggle.
At the opening ceremony of the competition organized by Azerbaijan Republic Youth and Sports Ministry, General Secretary of AWF – Rizvan Rasulov, the Head of Youth and Sports Department of Astara – Erche Aliyev, and Officer of Azerbaijan Youth and Sports Ministry – Fakhraddin Ismayilov took a floor in this competition. Speakers noted the obvious development of sports in our country, the successes achieved each passing day are the result of the sport policy. As reported, young people will gain the competition experience based on future achievements, and such championships are of great importance in this respect. Then the Azerbaijan Republic State Anthem called out. Competition was held in 10 kg weight category.
Abdullayev Huseyn (30kg), Rahimov Kenan (34kg), Yusibov Heydar (38kg), Hasanov Fuad (42kg), Heydarzade Elvin (46kg), Mammadov Elshan (50kg), Aliyev Murad (56kg), Shukurlu Ali (62kg), Guliyev Ali ( 69kg) and Mammadov Elmurad (+69kg) were gold medalists.
