There is a new leader of 90 year history Azerbaijan weightlifting shine over the recent years. Despite a number of weightlifters in this type of sport we had never faced with a popularity than las years. As a result, sportsmen of our country are continuously winning medals in international competitions. “Zirve” International Sports Clubs is no doubt a main architect of this achievements.

Since our club expands its activities our juniors and youth shine more often in an international arena, Azerbaijan flag raises icreasingly higher, anthem sounds more frequently and make us to be proud of that. Our club which discovers new European and world championships winners every year is currently an undisputed leader in weightlifting. Medals won in 2013 prove that to be true.

This year our sportsmen got 32 medals in international competitions. Our weightlifters won 13 gold, 7 silver and 12 bronze medals, and updated 7 records. They wrote their names to the history.

Gold medal of Firudin Guliyev at the Universiade Games and 2nd International Grand Prix, bronze medals in the senior world championship, update a world and European record in clean and jerk in the competition in Poland. This is a very big success. “Zirve” Sports Clubs alumni, a spotsman from Goranboy, is one of the world’s best at his weight category.

Our other sportsmen keep pace with Firudin. Title of European champion won by Rustam Imanzadeh among youth at the age to 15, and by Elkhan Aliguluzadeh among juniors is very valuable and worthy of high esteem.

These young graduates of Lankaran weightlifting school persist in increasing a number of victories and possess sufficient potential for that. Title of European youth champion of the athlete from Ismailly Mahammad Mammadli, silver medals won by Kanan Aliguliyev in the tournament will proclaims their future of great athletes.

This year our girls demonstrated their best skills in the international arena, too. Marziya Maharramova (Goranboy) and Gulchin Alizadeh (Kazakh) took part in the European Championship for the first time and won the bronze medals, and  lay the foundation of beginning of a new era in women weightlifting school. This success of our girls will certainly encourage girls from other regions to engage in athletics and participate in competitions.

Our master sportsmen are never tired to show their love for this sport. Gold medal of Emil Aliyev and bronze medals of Teymur Aliguliyev at the European Masters Championship in Gushadası, as well as bronze medal of Aftandil Humbetli in 8th World Masters Games in Torino, Italy should be noted and served as an example to younger generations.

Masters proves that weightlifting does not end after end of the professional career, and it is possible to contest at any age and succeed. Sport love is enough for it.

So, we completed 2013 with 32 international medals. It is not a secret that more than half of winners of Azerbaijan internal championships represent “Zirve” Sports Club. Sportsmen whose achievements are not comparable to other club in our country succeed continuously. These great victories won due to joint work, professionalism and strong efforts of our coaches,

referees, our management represent success of everybody concerned and “Zirve” as a whole. Our mission as a club is to always glorify Azerbaijan, train healthy generation, increase popularity of the sport. And we are getting closer to that with each passed year. No doubt, we will attain a great deal of success in 2014, too. Congratulations to all of you in 2013 for your victories.
